Norma Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and resident of Stamford CT peacefully passed away at Norwalk Hospital with her family at her side on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
Norma was born in Kingston, Jamaica on March 7, 1932, the last of 5 children born to Lyndon and Ione Rookwood.
Norma married the love of her life Norris Scott in September 1963.
Norma was an entrepreneur, owning her own business, Norma’s Trimmings and Fashion Accessories store in Cross Roads, Kingston, Jamaica before migrating to the United States of America. After her relocation to Stamford CT, she became a CNA and worked for Priority Care Nursing Agency for many years before retiring.
She had many hobbies, crocheting, baking, solving puzzles and she loved to read her Bible.
Norma was a member of St Georges Anglican Church in Kingston, and Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Stamford CT.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Yvonne Patterson, Andrea Scott-Grey (Paul), Dionne Scott, Richard Scott (Marcia); her eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her sister Olive McPherson, brother Lloyd Foster; special nephew Steve Walcott; a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many dear friends.
Norma was predeceased by her husband Norris, brother Arthur and sister Pearle.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 22, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by service of celebration at 11:00am at Wilson Memorial Church of God, 164 Richmond Hill Ave., Stamford CT. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien CT.
