I met Joe many years ago as a “regular” at Baskin-Robbins in Westport. Every visit, I would order the same thing.. mint choc chip. When I say a regular, I meant I went really often. I went overseas to work and spent a while over there almost 10 years before I went back to Baskin-Robbins. When I walked in, he looked up and he said “mint chocolate chip, right?” I cannot believe that he remembered after all that time.
. Such a nice friendly fellow he was.

Ian Burns posted a condolence

This message comes all the Duquemins from Ian , Melanie , Megan and Harry Burns in Guernsey, from where Joe’s father originated. Every time we met Joe we created memories which make us smile even today. Even though we met infrequently, there was always an instant connection and a warmth which was almost overwhelming. Joe’s wicked sense of humour (so redolent of his Guernsey ancestors) shone out. Our hearts go out to you all especially Rosemary, Debbie and Jane and even though we can’t give you a hug in person please be sure we are giving you an emotional hug from this side of the Atlantic.
