I would like to offer my condolences to Dorothy's family during this sorrowful moment... She was the beloved Grandma of my Goddaughter, Natacha -as well as the cherished Mother of my very dear friend, Tracy.
I had the opportunity to meet Dorothy during one very memorable visit to Paris years ago.. May her legacy, through the fond memories of her time with us - live forever...
...And may she rest in peace.

I am grateful that I was able to talk with Dorothy the evening before she passed to new life. Dorothy had a special relationship with my mother in law, Nikki, who lived across the hall. She made the locked downed year fun and exciting. They talked, laughed and made jokes, but most of all they were able to interact with a live person during a difficult time. I pray that Dorothy will have peace and send my condolences to her family.

Our condolences to Dorothy’s family. When I first met her in Paris many years ago I was first struck by the confidence she exuded. Later visits with her revealed a unique and exceptional personality. She was always willing to share her experiences and her love of life. Her gift for painting pictures with words has surely been passed to her granddaughter Natacha as witnessed with the beautiful tribute posted here.

Dorothy taught me that if there is anything I want to do, I can. But it comes with hard work and dedication. She was strong willed, a force to be reckoned with. She has left a lasting legacy in many areas. I still tell stories of her determined work with the Backcountry Ambulance and how she managed to do that while operating a rescue animal farm.
She was always blunt with me and didn't hold back. Yet she would listen to any rebuttal I had, which in retrospect was very kind considering my age and lack of experience in just about anything I was talking about.
I'm sorry for your loss. She will be in stories I will tell for the rest of my life.

Dorothy Mead was a loving, caring person. She gave of herself to animals, people, and organizations. The Class she wrote about First Aid is still a requirement for potential Emergency Medical Technicians, Police or people in Fire Departments. Many animals who needed homes were taken in. Many children who needed families were part of the family. I understand they kept in touch.
Dorothy liked to make people laugh. She wore a Bunny Suit for Easter, and other amusing costumes. She volunteered her time and visited the elderly in various facilities.Dorothy got recognition for her many accomplishments but they did not to to her head. Her love for life and people was clearly evident to all. Tomorrow was a day to make it better.
She tried and sometimes succeeded in helping me be a better person. Dorothy will be sorely missed.

"May the road rise to meet you, may the wind always be at your back. May the sunshine warm your face, the rainfall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand." Amen, an Irish blessing
Mom, I miss you. I can see you dancing your way through the pearly gates. RIP Love always, Tracy
